Population control hypocrisy by OnyxNocturne Population control hypocrisy by OnyxNocturne
When I say overpopulated compared to other animals, I don't mean in numbers, a species numbers can be small and still be overpopulated, overpopulation is not a numbers issue, it is a resource issue. If a species is taking more resources than it is returning, it is obvious the species is over populated.

EDIT: There are more ways to control a population than killing people already amongst us, I'd never suggest such a thing.

Dude.

Y'know, having too many coyote in one placing can actually be a bad thing. (as an example)

It's like letting all the carnivores in a space grow tremendously, causing overpopulation because there's not enough herbivores, their food source, to actually feed them and create offspring. They're not able to double, nor triple in size. They're only able to dwindle, even though they're boosting the ecological state by ingesting harmful plants, like weeds in a garden.

If it's something we can handle, since an ecological collapse on an area isn't the best of fucking ideas then why not? If we can, then we should.

Just because we're talking about the number of animals in a specific, moderate sized set area instead of the whole fucking human race which expands to PRETTY MUCH ALL 7 CONTINENTS, with cultural and technological gaps in between. You can't just expect us to make a notion covering the whole globe to somehow convince people "Hey, y'know, let's do that thing China does and regulate how many kids we can have even though all of you dirty bastards refuse to wear a condom with your wife or get fixed. yeh." That's not gonna work. In a smaller region? Yeah. Global scale? No.

I ain't sayin' the population is perfectly fine, i'm sayin' don't bitch about it and claim hypocrisy because it'd take some time to reach a scale that wide, and for it to actually take effect, since, again, there's high controversy about birth control and such.

(No, i shit you not, alot of cultures don't likey the prevention of pregnancy.)

Science predicts that humans will eventually become so overpopulated that we will be forced to eat and farm bugs because we will not have enough space for animal farms.

Let that sink in.

Regulators have a RIGHT to remove a child from a family if they determine if his/her mental and physical health is in jeopardy. If there's too many children in an impoverished family, the regulators have a RIGHT to remove fertility to prevent further suffering. If a family wants to have a large family, then they can only adopt! Bearing and raising children is like driving a car; it's a priviledge not a right! And priviledges can be taken away if the interests and welfare of the greater community is jeopardized.

I don't see the hypocrisy. We kill animals that we view as destructive to our interests. Clearly that's not us.

That being said, the human population does need to go down. And I don't even say that as an environmentalist. The amount of people on Earth currently is compounding with increasing automation to make it harder and harder for individual people to get ahead in life.

There's one problem with the overpopulation theory. Unlike other animals, Scientists CANNOT determine the Human Carrying Capacity. The reason? We have used Technology to an extent that the carrying capacity has gone up! If someone took all 7 billion people on Earth and dropped them in a spot, the blob would be the size of Los Angeles. Also, if everyone was settled in Texas, everyone would have a 33x33 property lot, enough for a house, and it would be 66x66 if everyone lived in four-person homes.

So no, humanity is not overpopulated. It's possible that humanity will never overpopulate.

you know, i think that we should just let nature do its thing. if we dont kill them, something else will, or nature will just balance itself out again. even if there is a "problem" in ecosystems, with invasives and all that, we seem to only cause more problems by exterminating species.

Because, having lots of overpopulated animals to add to the problem is not solving the problem. And yes, animals in over population become huge problems to more than just us.

We DO allow other species to evolve, silly child. We don't exterminate every single member of a species, or at least not voluntarily. And besides, that was a really weak point.

And humans by nature's standards are the best. Sorry for popping your bubble, love. I'm pretty sure a caterpillar did not design your modem, or build a great civilisation.

Did I ever say caterpillars were less important than humans? I don't think so. But humans evolutionary wise are in fact far superior to caterpillars or any animal on earth for that matter. One word: BRAINS.

We don't need claws or poison when we have brains. Our brains got us to the top. And since we're at the top, we'll do what we please to the lower animals. Be grateful we're considerate enough to protect them.
